Merging ‘80s New Wave with Middle Eastern influences, and including biblical subjects as well as contemporary social commentary, Ehud Banai and his band's eponymous 1987 debut, Ehud Banai Ve Haplitim, became one of the most important works of Israeli rock. The album’s edgy atmosphere owed much to the clever arrangements and brilliant guitar work of Yossi Elephant, and helped the band become a mainstay of the Israeli music scene for decades to come.
