The Chant
Album · Reggae · 2012
Written and recorded in Africa after being inspired by his 2010 tour there, The Chant finds legendary reggae artist Sizzla reconnecting with Everton “The Cave” Moore, who produced several of his early hits back in the mid-'90s. He also benefits from outstanding players (Howard D-Steele, Christian & Bunny Wailer, and Kirk Sewel), and a new Wailers riddim written by Rita Marley herself on the non-violence anthem "Put Away the Weapons." Other guests include Jah Seed on "How Come" and Wippa Demus and Halloway on "Smoke Marijuana." But for the most part it's Sizzla's show, and he's in top form on tracks like "Something Special," "Look What's Happening," and "Hungry Children." He also revisits Bob Marley's "Rat Race" riddim on "System Crash" and stresses his Rastafarian beliefs on "Love Selassie I More." Quality music, positive messages, and good vibes from start to finish make this another quality album in his extensive and impressive discography.
