On their fourth album, Cow Gives Milk, noise rockers Hoirong sustain their melancholy and wry humour just as effectively as the wall of abrasive, quick-paced riffs they churn through its 10 tracks. Vocalist and guitarist Kamal Singh has a wistfulness that recalls bands like Smashing Pumpkins, and his abstruse lyrics on "Designed for Failure” pair well with fuzzy basslines and dreamy guitars. However, the title track starts out much more aggressively, leading to the fun punk volleys of "Opportunity", the chaos of "Don't Put Nazar" and the wailing guitar lines of "Bomba" and "CC".
