There’s a homebrewed energy to this Michigan native’s work that lets his sincerity shine. Shadowlands keeps the accent on the positive with buoyant tracks like “We Go,” “Bleeding Hearts,” and “Life Again.” The zany spirit of “MouseTrap” (featuring rapper Skrip) goes nicely with the dubstep dizziness of “All Round De World” (spotlighting St. Matthew’s raga-drenched vocals) and the techno fireworks of “Light of Dawn” (a showcase for Cash Hollistah’s hip-hop testimony).
