As Clockwork, Harry Steinway is known for tearing up EDM festival stages with fervid electro-house. As RL Grime, Steinway takes things in a moodier, more cerebral direction. Void is all dark skies and chilly temperatures, traversing gritty, languorous trap ("Core"), melodramatic R&B ("Reminder," featuring How to Dress Well), and sinister techno ("Danger"). Free from his more populist alter ego, Steinway explores spooky textures and weird structures, such as the sci-fi synths of "Let Go" or the swooning beats of the aptly named "Monsoon." "Julia," however, is brisk and energetic drum and bass, a nod to Steinway's lighter side.
