Fhloston Paradigm
Cosmosis, Vol. 2 - EP
Album · Dance · 2016
In the second volume of his Cosmosis series, King Britt continues to flesh out the analog universe of his Fhloston Paradigm project, balancing shuddering techno with expansive synth experiments. "Nimoy" pairs tough, nervous drum programming with hypnotic arpeggios, building to a wild, dissonant crescendo over its nine-minute run. As on the first volume, the remainder of the EP foregoes beats in favor of flickering ambient pulses: "Return" explores the lyrical melodies and cyclical counterpoints of '70s synthesizer music, while "The Hour" sounds like the intro to The Who's "Baba O'Riley" spun into cotton candy.
