Hailed as saviours of the troubled record industry, there are high hopes on Coldplay's fourth opus "Viva la Vida or Death and all its friends" to bring its suffering record label some relief. After going through the free download way with the first single "Violet Hill"; they have promptly followed it by giving Itunes one of the album's best moments as an exclusive. Heavily promoted with TV ads, it has entered straight to the top 3 on the Billboard Top 100; their biggest hit to date across the Atlantic. Brian Eno's production gets as epic as exuberant, whereas the mournful balladry of "X&Y" seems left behind for a more upbeat and optimistic approach. "Viva La Vida", the catchiest tune they have released since "Yellow"; finds Chris Martin's pals at their melodic best with an impeccable pop song that richly expand the four piece's sound palette with lush violins and orchestral arrangements. If the whole album is this good, they might as well have accomplished their own mission impossible.  shazam
